When your mother is America’s Superhero Sweetheart and your daddy’s the Number One Super Villain, you grow up feeling a little conflicted.

Angela Smith has superpowers—nothing that will ever make her comic-book famous—but her ability to psychically sense and manipulate the emotions of people around her has drawn unwanted government attention. Forced to choose between her quiet life as a teacher under constant surveillance or the life of a rogue, she chooses the latter. She plans to hide out in sunny Los Angeles where being a blue-eyed blonde won’t make anyone bat a false eyelash.

Silver screen star by day, superhero by night, Arktos is a triple-threat. He can fly, freeze anything, and see glimpses of the future, all of which he needs to keep the city of Los Angeles safe, but which does nothing for his social life. When a frightening vision of an explosion leads him to rescue a damsel in distress, he finds himself trading Shakespearean insults with a rogue.

Angela knows just how dangerous well-intentioned superheroes can be one tried to kill her family when she was young. Arktos knows he should hand the rogue over to Company justice; it’s not safe for someone like her to be in the middle of a fight.

But they can’t seem to stay apart. And together, they just might be able to melt all the obstacles standing between true love for a hero and a villain.

Even Villains Go To The Movies Heroes and Villains eBook Liana Brooks

Liana Brooks has done it again!

After a couple years, I remembered how much I loved her first book in the series. It was memorable to me as a clean and fun read.

I'm glad I picked up and finished her 2nd and 3rd books. Slightly more serious, both books focus on the daughters of Dr. Charm from the first book. You do not need to read the first book to understand the second.

Hollywood is a different setting for this story and Brooks had me guessing the identity of the masked-hero. While the first book will remain my favorite (and if you haven't read it, please do), Even Villains Go To the Movies is a good read. I also enjoyed the 3rd book too.

Even Villains Go To The Movies Heroes and Villains eBook Liana Brooks Reviews

Originally read January 2014; reread with release of 3rd book of the series July 2015

Book 2 of Liana Brooks Heroes and Villains series does not balance the Superhero Romance as equably as Book 1; in this one the character development took precedence. We meet the quads all grown up; Angela's story is first. I did not like the mechanism the author used to keep us guessing which of the (possible) four men courting were actually superhero-secret identity combinations. But I guess it was necessary, because, Angela's an empath - the question about knowing if your man loves you (central to many romances) flies out the window - unless the background noise if very, very busy such as at a bar or during battle.

Also less minions than the first one. Sigh, I really would like to see more of the minions.

Above is my first reaction from 2014, when I reread the story for 2015 after buying the 3rd book, my dislike of the mechanism faded considerably now knowing who gets the girl. I actually liked the story better the second time around. Angela's life in NY and LA is interesting, the people she gets to know are cool, and the ongoing email communication at the start of each chapter from her to the rest of her family is amusing. The second read moved the book up to a 4.5 on the Scale; and I round up from there. First read was a solid 4 on the scale.
This trilogy is a fun romp, but this book is definitely better than the first. The family interaction of the grown-up girls and their fight to remain free adds an interesting dynamic, and the dramatic elements blend perfectly with the romantic ones in this story. Highly recommended.
While it took me a minute to cover the gap between this girl being so little, and now all grown up, I love Angelas story, and her reaction to being unexpectedly plunged into Hollywood acting. The romance is delightfully steamy, without giving any real revelations until the very end.
Plus I loved getting to see a glimpse of Doctor Charm at the end.
This is a fantastic follow up to the first book in the series, Even Villains Fall in Love. You can read it as a standalone without any problems at all, but for those who have read the first there are a bunch of one liners that will make you squee.

This book follows the adventures of Dr Charm's daughter Angela as she travels to Hollywood, tries not to fall in love, and of course, saves the day ) Fun superhero action, awesome flirting (one of Ms Brooks's specialties), and covert references to Literature-capital-L that will make English Lit geeks squee with glee, this is a well-structured, well-paced story that will leave you eager for the next Heroes and Villains adventure!
This is a great romance and mystery. The minions make an appearance and we find the Company hadn't quit trying to do away with the offspring of heroes and villains. This is a great read.
